We believe that a customers tool should represent their goals for their product. Our in-house 3D printing will give you a part that you can hold, to ensure the design is perfect before you spend the money on a tool build.
Thermoplastic moulding or Injection Moulding is forcing melted plastic into a pre-built mould at high pressures to create the desired product. This can include rapid injection moulding, and production injection moulding. This results in created an exact copy of the mould.
At R&M Plastics, a few of the moulded products we can create for you could include cell phone cases, computer components, eyewear, caps, lids, knobs, handles, and plugs.
Product Design (If required) – We review product designs with our customers, to ensure not only that it will meet all the customer’s requirements but also to ensure that the product is manufacturable.
Prototyping (If required) – Once a design is approved we will make a 3D printed prototype, this is a service that we charge for, however, it will be fully refunded via account credit once the first production run has been completed. This gives our customers a chance to review the design and ensure it is perfect.
Tool Build (If required) – R&M does not build injection moulds in-house. This way we can ensure we keep the focus on the moulding process. Instead, we work with some of the best tool makers in Toronto and Barrie and usually obtain 2-3 quotes for a tool build. We choose a toolmaker that we feel will build a tool with your product goals in mind. We act as a project manager for the tooling.
For the initial trial, R&M will provide a sample run of the product as part of the tooling costs, this is to ensure that the tool is functioning properly and making the parts to the specifications. If any adjustments are required they are done at this stage. Once the trial is complete and the product is up to specs, R&M makes the first production run.
With over 50 years of experience, R&M Plastics has the experience and expertise required for creating the highest quality plastic injection moulding from the simplest to most complex design.
